Position description

  • As a UX/Visual Designer you are able to develop designs based on user needs, business goals, and branding guidelines.
  • You are primarily responsible for how an experience communicates visually.
  • You should be able to interpret evidence-based research and incorporate this into your work.
  • You are able to work independently.
  • You can be trusted to make good decisions and can recognize when to ask for further guidance and support.

Required qualifications

  • Choose and use appropriate typography (within the constraints of a brand or design system, if applicable).
  • Create and use a well-defined color palette, using color theory best practices to inform your choices. Or, if color is constrained by a brand or an existing design system, work within that framework to use color in a meaningful way.
  • Select and/or create meaningful icons, photography, and/or illustrations.
  • Lay out balanced pages on a grid, considering the screen size and whether the page will be responsive.
  • Understand the opportunities and limitations of the technology that the design solution will be expressed in, and work with developers to determine its      implementation.
  • Ensure all designs meet WCAG AA accessibility standards, and following inclusive design principles for typography, color, etc...
  • Indicate where animations would improve the visual experience, showing examples or creating prototypes to bring the idea to life.
  • Helps translate insights and information into visually compelling information visualizations, such as blueprints, journey maps, infographics, etc.
  • Starting from a current experience (or from nothing at all) able to create compelling, creative visual concepts with thoughtful rationale behind design decisions.
  • Lead and direct the creation of a design system from start to finish.
  • Ensure consistency in designs across team members and projects.
  • Share work early and often, and seek out constructive feedback from team members and leads; prototype designs to quickly test and iterate on an idea.
  • Solicits feedback from other sources e.g., team members, stakeholders, users. Able to articulate the assumptions made that need to be tested and identify what      needs to be learned

Required education and experience

  • College/University Degree or Equivalent
